This page is dedicated to the late Dr. A.E. Wilder-Smith. A E. Wilder Smith studied natural sciences at Oxford, England. He received his first doctorate in physical organic chemistry at Reading University, England in 1941. During World War Il, he joined the research department of ICI in England. After the war, he became Countess of Lisburne memorial Fellow at the University of London. Subsequently, Wilder-Smith was appointed Director of Research for a Swiss pharmaceutical company. Later he was elected to teach chemotherapy and pharmacology at the medical school of the University of Geneva for which position he received his "habilitation". At Geneva he earned his second doctorate, followed by a third doctorate from the ETH (a senior university in Switzerland) in Zurich. Dr. Wilder-Smith passed into the presence of God in September, 1995.

Wilder Smith was also a well known speaker on many other topics. He was author and co-author of over 70 scientific publications and more than 30 books which have been published in some 17 languages. His "Man's Origin, Man's Destiny'' and "The Creation of Life" are Christian classics.

On a personal note, ISBR President Bob Cooperman had the pleasure of meeting Dr. WIlder-Smith in 1984, during an American speaking engagement that brought Dr. Wilder-Smith to the Locust Valley Bible Church, in Middletown Maryland. After listening to Dr. Wilder-Smith's logical and coherent exposition of how evolution could not account for the information content in genetic material, Mr. Cooperman gained a deeper appreciation for the impossibility of biological evolution, and views this issue as the best anti-evolution argument of all.

As Psalm 139:13-16 says: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." (NIV)

Picture the information-carrying DNA double helix being "knit together" and "woven" prior to our "unformed body" being formed and you get a glimpse of how important this issue is and why Dr. Wilder-Smith focused so heavily on it. Enjoy his teachings on all of the subjects he addressed.
